Who loves strawberry shortcake? We do!
I've been taking my 4 year old to go eat strawberry shortcake since before he could even walk. Same thing goes for his little brother. We love it! Biscuit, cake, whipped cream, ice cream... just pile it on, it doesn't matter!
Last week, I took my boys and their Mimi to Goodson Farms, Inc. in Wimauma, for a strawberry shortcake treat. The place was packed of course, but that is the sign of a good thing and the shortcake is well worth the wait.
Don't expect to only order a shortcake... they have a small indoor snack bar with hot dogs, Cuban sandwiches, grilled cheese, BBQ pork sandwiches, sausages, boiled peanuts, milkshakes, strawberry pizza, sundaes, and more!
The strawberries are picked fresh and you can sit at a table and enjoy your treats while overlooking the strawberry fields.
It was pretty windy and cold on the day we visited, so we improvised and sat in the back of our truck and had a picnic while enjoying our shortcakes and boiled peanuts.
Goodson Farms Inc. has a small veggie market with fresh colossal sized veggies for sale as well as jams, honey, and more! Their prices are super! A half a flat of berries was $10 and a smaller container was $3.
The farm is on a quiet little country road and you will see tractors and pickers working the fields. We love it and will be back for more, next time I'll order the strawberry pizza!
