I have been waiting for tomato season so when I saw the u-pick sign while driving down 41, I squealed with excitement!
We used to go picking for grape tomatoes when we lived in Lantana, FL, but these Ruskin tomatoes are huge!!
The u-pick farm is located on Highway 41 right across from Winn Dixie, Latitude's, and Kimi's Ice Cream.
They are open daily from 8am-4pm.
Pick and pay for how much you want or fill up a 5 gallon bucket for $15. Most of the tomatoes are green right now, but they will be turning red soon. You just have to do a little more looking for the red ones, but they are out there.
They also sell green peppers, sweet tomatoes, and jalapeno peppers at the stand when you pay for your u-pick tomatoes.
Now I have to come up with lots of fun recipes to use the tomatoes with... broiled tomatoes, fried green tomatoes, BLT's, refreshing summer salads, tomato sauce... What are you favorite recipes using tomatoes? Comment below and share!
