Cypress Creek Produce Co-op

Save On Produce!

By Angela Duncan May 31, 2017

Produce can get quite pricey when you are shopping at the grocery store, especially with a family of 4 with 2 growing boys who can eat a container of raspberries before we even leave the parking lot. I am so glad I found out about the

Cypress Creek Produce Co-op group on Facebook.

This Southshore based produce co-op has been saving our family money since we joined last year. The Co-op began a couple years ago and was created by a Cypress Creek resident, Cassie Adams. She used to have neighbors and friends meet in her living room to disperse the affordable produce, but now the Co-op has grown with thousands of members and multiple neighborhood locations.

Each week, Cassie goes to wholesale markets, local farms, & various buyers and prices out what fresh items will be included in the weekly bin. Every Sunday, she makes a post in the Facebook Group what will be included in the bin for that week. The post includes pickup info, bin contents, times & locations. The post also includes a Google document to complete when ordering. There are 2 different bin sizes. A medium bin ($20) will feed a family of 4 and a large bin ($30) will feed a family of 5-7.

This is my medium bin from this week. It included broccoli, navel oranges, cauliflower, peaches, spinach, bananas, sweet potatoes, blueberries, grape tomatoes, pink lady apples, and kale...

Cassie also creates a post for add-ons.  These are items that you can purchase in addition to your bin. You can choose as many add-ons as you like or none at all. You can even order add-ons without ordering a medium or large bin.

These are the add-ons that I chose in addition to my medium bin...

They even have pre made trade out bins at the end of the line if there is something you do not like in the week's bin.
**There is a one time fee when you join the Co Op. The fee is $5. It goes towards bags, canopies, tables, supplies...etc.

You MUST bring your own bags, shoppers, laundry baskets, empty boxes...etc to get your produce home.

There is no commitment or contract or trial etc. Once you pay your $5 fee you are in the Co-op and you order when you want to.

Right now, they are only taking cash. No checks, no debit/credit cards. CASH ONLY.

go out asking for volunteers. A volunteer shift is about 4 hours and you will receive a free medium bin for volunteering.

Join the Cypress Creek Produce Co-op Group page and tell them Macaroni Kid sent you! The volunteers are super friendly and you won't be disappointed!

My family and I are so thankful for Cassie and her crew! <3
