Business Spotlight - Spine-ability Chiropractic and Auto Injury Rehab

Relief, Healing, & So Much More...

April 9, 2019

17 years ago (wow, I'm getting old) I was driving Eastbound on Lumsden in Brandon. I had just dropped off my friend and started heading home to my Mom at our apartment. I was minding my own business, cruising, listening to some music... when out of the blue a car pulled out in front of me turning into Heather Lakes. "BOOM!' Is all I remember hearing. I was only 22 years old. Never broken a bone, never had an IV, and never even had chicken pox... I was freaking out. My adrenaline started pumping... I felt okay, totally shaken up,  but I saw the other car in a ditch and no one was getting out. I managed to open my door, dazed and very much confused.

I raced to the ditch fearful the other driver was hurt and helped the driver out of their vehicle. I called my Mom who was only 3 minutes away and that's when the adrenaline started to fade and the pain started radiating in my neck and my back. My car was totaled and I could hardly walk. The paramedics came and talked me into riding in an ambulance to the hospital. I remember being strapped to the wooden stretcher and my hair being ripped out once I was set free and put on a hospital bed. Hours went by and I finally had x-rays. I was sent home with pain meds, a neck brace, and told to follow up with my doctor.

Long story short, I had a severe L4/L5 herniated disc. Months went by, multiple doctor appointments, many calls with my lawyer, and back surgery was recommended. I have had some minor problems and pain with my back since then, but a couple days after Christmas this past year I started vacuuming the house on my hands and knees. A couple days later, I couldn't walk and was in the worst pain ever. I thought it was like every other time and hoped it would somehow go away by itself. BUT IT DIDN'T. You all know how much I loved working out at Burn Boot Camp, I tried giving it my all and continued to work out even in pain and grabbing my lower back the whole time. It's been debilitating and I was in such extreme pain for 2 straight months. I couldn't even open my toes on my left foot to put my flip flops on. That's when my good friend, Chrissy, the owner of Playtime, recommended that I go see Dr. Marissa Fetherman at Spine-ability Chiropractic & Auto Injury Rehab

Sure I was a bit leery and not really wanting to go, but I decided to bite the bullet since I was in soooooooo much pain. My left leg was tingling and I had NO feeling in my toes so yes... it was truly time to get medical attention.

I want a quick fix like everyone, but my injury is so old and very much stubborn at this point. Dr. Marissa Fetherman gave me some slight immediate relief on my first visit. Each time it gets better and better. I no longer have numbness and tingling in my foot and down my leg and I’m able to sit for longer periods of time. I can definitely feel a difference each time I go in.

This center has more than just routine spinal adjustments... they have so many other treatments available such as massages, roller tables, pediatric care,  women’s and men’s health and more!

Oh and the hydro table...OMG!! Sign me up every time I visit! It is sooo amazing!!! 15 minutes is never enough. Lol

Another thing that is super amazing, I can bring my well behaved kids with me. Sure, I might need their I-Pads to keep them entertained, but Spine-ability has books and toys for the kids to keep busy with while you get your treatments. And they keep them pretty cozy too! <3 I always stress about having to take my kids to appointments... my husband works odd hours and I never know when he will be available to watch them while I go to my appointments. Luckily, Spine-ability is family friendly. :)

I am honestly in awe in how much Spine-ability has helped me so far. The Doctors are super sweet, understanding, and they want to help. Our family highly recommends this local business and we will be patients for years to come for regular and irregular visits. Thank you to the Doctors and staff for treating and caring for us!!
