If you are a Ruskin local, The Dog House and More is no secret. But hey, you can also be a local and not know about them because sometimes we just never get around to trying a new place. Well, I'm here to tell you whether you are a local or new to the area that The Dog House and More is a place you don't want to pass up.
The Dog House and More pride themselves on making everything fresh to order. They make homemade Chili, Chowder, Baked Beans, Coleslaw, Mango Salsa, BBQ Sauces (Sweet, Spicy and White!), Chipotle Mayo, Burgers, Tartar Sauce, Cocktail Sauce, Cajun Sauce... in other words - FRESH INGREDIENTS = AWESOME FOOD!
And they even have kids meals!!
The Dog House and More have their own large smoker that they use daily to smoke their Baby Back Ribs, Whole Chickens, Brisket and Boston Butts.
Their seafood is delivered to them twice a week including Clams from Ipswich, Mass (Whole Bellies and Strips), Lobster Meat from Maine, Gulf Grouper & Shrimp!
Our family decided on BBQ sandwiches and chicken tenders and hot dog kids meals. My husband and I tried the Brisket Philly with white BBQ sauce and the Homemade Chowder. This is a sandwich full of good stuff... sauteed onions, tender brisket, delicious BBQ sauce, and provolone cheese. The flavors are outstanding and you won't be disappointed! Ok, on to the chowder... Every spoonful was packed with a blast of freshness. It was so creamy, full of clams, and had the perfect amount of potatoes and seasoning.
We also had the Boneless Rib Sandwich with Corn Nuggets and Coleslaw. We actually didn't know what this sandwich had on it, but the moment we took a bite, we immediately tasted bacon and cheese. O. M. G. This sandwich is the BOMB! It is stacked with flavor and will make you want to order another. But, don't forget your corn nuggets and coleslaw! That in itself will fill you to the brim. The corn nuggets are delicious, full of flavor and have the perfect outside crunch.
Everything was amazing and my husband, Todd, said "That is probably the best BBQ I have EVER had".
And while you are there, don't skip out on the desserts! We had the Caramel Apple and the Chocolate Cherry Pie.
They need no explanation. They are just AMAZING. Period.
The Dog House and More has ranked and won many awards in South Shore, and for good reason.
